Sidney Parks

Sidney started dancing at the age of 3. She attended Karen McWilliams School of Dance until she retired in 2012. Under the instruction of Tricia Aldag and Jamie Tesch, she became an assistant and had the privilege of teaching a few classes during this time. She studied many styles including ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical, and Irish. Growing up, she performed in Lincoln Midwest Ballet Company’s The Nutcracker and Cinderella. A few of her roles were a little mouse, Chinese lantern background, Arabian background, and maid. The Nutcracker ballet holds a special place in her heart. Sidney has been teaching for five-plus years and absolutely loves giving kids a creative outlet to express themselves. While at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, she majored in Graphic Design, and Advertising & Public Relations with a minor in Dance. This is where she learned to love Modern dance.

This quote has always been a catalyst for Sidney.

“To dance is to be out of yourself. Larger, more beautiful, more powerful. This is power, it is glory on earth and it is yours for the taking.” Agnes de Mille
